FILM: PHIL'S CAMINO: SO FAR SO GOOD

This is the inspirational story of Phil Volker, and his dream of walking the 500-mile ancient pilgrimage across Spain, the Camino de Santiago. Phil also has Stage IV cancer, and due to his weekly chemo treatments, it is impossible for him to embark on this dream, so he decides to recreate the Camino right in his backyard. Walking among diverse woodlands and rich pastures that connect through his 10 acres of land on Vashon Island, Seattle, Phil comes to realize that with every step he takes, a new way of being presents itself.

A break in his chemo treatment allows him to finally touch the dream, and he arrives in Spain. This simple act of walking, his personal pilgrimage, reveals the key to his physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

This is a story of hope and freedom, from a simple backyard, to the site of the ancient pilgrimage in Spain and back again. It is the story of one man's realization that the most important journey is the one within.

"Come, walk with me," was the invitation Phil extended to Annie in 2014. It seems like perfect timing as we ask the same of you now, to walk through this experience with us as we embrace Phil's story and what it means to dream of doing something impossible.

After the film, join your fellow seekers and director Annie O'Neil for a movieclub-style discussion of Phil's Camino. What did you think of the film? What came up for you? What resonated with you?

Hear how others experienced the film and, if you feel compelled, share your own journey, your own personal pilgrimage, and how you have overcome obstacles in order to live a life of meaning and gratitude.
