Hochelaga, Land of Souls is a beautifully filmed historical delight, in which a young architect digs up a football field after a massive sinkhole gives way to traces of an ancient settlement. History comes alive in this multi-layered exploration of Montreal, as the story of a modern-day architect is woven with tales of native peoples and Revolutionary rebels in the 1800s.

You will make as many discoveries as the architect, played by Canadian rapper Samian, as you both learn of the land, ancestors, memory and reconciliation. Hochelaga, Land of Souls is Canada's 2018 official submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
